The medicine as well as the oils used for the treatments are produced in house which we are happy and proud to show you during a guided tour. You will note that the production (one of the specialist subject areas of our head physician Mrs. R. Waidyawansa) is a very time-consuming matter, which requires a highly experienced team consisting not only of physicians and pharmacists, but also of very responsible staff.
If you are taking western medicine during your stay with us, you must inform us, as the simultaneous taking of Ayurvedic and western medicine with out medical control can lead to severe consequences.
During the herbal bath, the Ayurvedic sauna and the herbal steam bath some people will receive a small glass of herbal juice, which increases the blood pressure, which promotes sweating and therefore the disposal of waste products through the skin. It often contains also small traces of alcohol (ca.2%). Please inform our physicians if your medicine should be entirely without alcohol, as then a separate preparation of the medicine has to be made.
Through the purification process it is possible that at the beginning of you stay you will notice skin irritations such as redness or similar. This can have two causes: in one case it can be a reaction to the cleansing process, in the other case it can be an allergic reaction. If this is the case, you should show it to the physicians, who can tell you what reason there is for it. Please remember that most of the oils and the medicine are made from 40 to 60 different ingredients.
