Language
Three languages are spoken in Sri Lanka:
The "official language" is English and the folks groups Singhalese and Tamils speak their own languages. Although only a few speak all three languages.
English and German is mainly spoken at the Lotus-Villa. In our team we have Singhalese as well as Tamils. All of our physicians are Singhalese and hence, like most people in Sri Lanka only speak "English learned at school". Therefore we have employed translators who translate physicians consultations so to insure that all special terminology is communicated correctly. We have three translators employed at the Lotus-Villa.
For the beginning we want to give you some Singhalese words as a "taster".
The highlighted letters indicate the intonation. We don't show Singhalese characters as this would require quite some exercise.
