QUESTION CALALOGUE "A GOOD AYURVEDA-HOUSE":
Finally a few questions, which should help you with your decision: (for the assessment "good house" around 20 points should apply):
- Are only AYURVEDA-guests accepted, even outside of season- (or are AYURVEDA-guests "mixed" with others)
- Has AYURVEDA been offered for a long time- (it should be at least 3 years due to the experiences required in the Lotus-Villa it has been practised for over 12 years)
- Is the house rather described as "familiar" regarding the treatment atmosphere- (or is it described as "big hotel")
- Has no fixed treatment plan been developed for the AYURVEDA- (or is it even possible to order single treatments)
- Often only important for ill people: Is the office equipped in a way that communication with foreign countries is possible at any time- (or is the office only staffed during the day)
- Are there separate areas available for smokers
- Are the following areas strictly no smoking: treatment rooms, restaurant and rooms
- For complete relaxation are at least the AYURVEDA-rooms WITHOUT fridge, telephone, Internet connection and air-condition- (or can one e.g. order it in for a fee)
- Are at least the treatment rooms accessible to wheelchairs and those with disabilities
- Is the quality of drinking water supplied to the whole house been proven by certificate
- Is it quiet throughout the treatment rooms- (or is background music being used - in Ayurveda two things should not be done at the same time)
- Is the food for each guest individually developed by the physician/s and also prepared individually- ( or are only buffets offered)
- Is the food also organised amount wise for each guest individually- (or can one eat as much as one likes)
- Are also the drinks individually arranged by the physician/s- (or does one decide by oneself what to drink)
- Are only tempered/warm drinks offered- (or are cold drinks available if requested)
- Are fruits and vegetables only used from private gardens- (or is it bought at the market where a control of toxins is not possible)
- Is medicine - including for the cleaning of the gut - adjusted individually for each guest- (or is it rather unified)
- Is there an on-site physician or pharmacist present, who prepares the AYURVEDA-medicines especially for the each guest
- Are exclusively natural products used to produce the medicines- (or are also "western medicine" mixed in)
- Are the oils and medicine used produced by the house itself- (or are they bought-in from other companies)
- If the medicine is produced by a physician or a pharmacist: do they have a licence for the production of medicine
- When a body massage is given, is a specially prepared oil used for each Ayurveda-guest- (or "as sometimes possible in Europe" is the same oil used for each guest)
- Only important for guests and patients from Asian and Arabic countries: Does a separate massage team exist for men and women
- For guests and patients from western countries: Can one decide oneself which type of team one prefers- (or is it "prescribed")
- Is at least one translator available at least during the day
- Do the translators also know medical terminology
- Is a physician available day and night- (or does one have to be called in during a night times emergency)
- Do the physicians possess an AYURVEDA-diploma from a recognised state university and additionally a registration number given from the Ayurveda-ministry/office
- Does the massage team, service team and kitchen team receive regular training in their specialist field, as well as about AYURVEDA- (or are they send home or made redundant during off-season)
- In the AYURVEDA department, are staff exclusively employed in their specialist area- (or are they also required to carry out other work e.g. work in the garden)
- Are Yoga and Meditation offered and actually carried out
- Is enough done to ensure physical exercise- (in order to also immediately balance the body's energy-household)
- Are presentations/discussions held without time limit about AYURVEDA and bordering subjects such as AYURVEDA-medicine, AYURVEDA-treatments, Yoga, nutrition, etc.- (or only if requested and also with a time limit)
- Does each guest or patient receive an introduction into the basics of AYURVEDA
For wheelchair users and disabled people:
- Are the drivers, masseurs, waiters and room boys trained in the usage of a wheelchair
- Are the doors wide enough to wheelchairs to fit through
- Are emergency/alarm switches available in the rooms and bathrooms
- Is the emergency switch in the bathroom also possible to reach when lying on the ground
- Are the showers accessible for a wheelchair user
- Are also toilet seats available
- Are at least the treatment rooms, rooms, restaurant and office accessible without having to climb any stairs
- Are special mattresses available such as a "water bed"
- Are handles available, which can be fixed to suit individual requirements
- Are handles and a ramp available for the possibly existing swimming pool
